The following song somehow sums up, in very plain language, how the Algerian regime pushed the population of
Kabylia to radicalize politically, from independence to recent events.
J.S.K. (Jeunesse Sportive de Kabylie), the name of a local sports team, is here metaphorically used to symbolize the
resistance against the panarabist political project for Algeria. The Canaris, a reference to the Amazigh inhabitants
of the Canary Islands, officially refers to the members composing the J.S.K. soccer team.
Note: Although this poem is in Tamazight, the reference to the Algerian pouvoir as assassins has been cried out in French at the
demonstrations and thus replicated in this poem.
