Ariel Sharon, the current prime minister of Israel, is a war criminal. In 1953, Sharon was a member of the infamous Unit 101, a paramilitary force for Israel. In October of that year, Sharon's unit descended on the village of Qibya, killing 69 civilians, blowing up 45 houses, a school, and a mosque. Time Magazine reported that Sharon's soldiers shot "every man, woman and child they could find. The cries of the dying could be heard amidst the explosions." (quoted in the Chicago Tribune, 2/8/2001)
In 1982, Sharon attacked the refugee camps of Sabra and Shatila and allowed right wing militias to massacre over 900 Palestinians and Lebanese civilians. The Kahan Commission, an official board of Israeli inquiry, found Sharon to be "indirectly responsible". Israeli reporters had found that there were "many accounts of women raped, pregnant women, their fetuses cut out afterwards, women with hands chopped off, earrings pulled." More recently, Ariel Sharon launched F-16 fighters against a civilian population in the occupied territories. These are basic war crimes! With a war criminal at its head, the state of Israel is continuing its apartheid policies and its daily terror against the Palestinians.
On Monday, June 18 2001, in Brussels, Belgium, a lawsuit on behalf of 28 plaintiffs and witnesses, all survivors of the Sabra/Shatila massacres was filed in the countries court system against Ariel Sharon, Prime Minister of Israel, on counts of war crimes, crimes against humanity and genocide. If it can happen in Europe, why not in the USA? United States of America: stand up for Justice and Indict Ariel Sharon for his genocidal crimes
against humanity.
